After Carlsbad we drove to Alamogordo NM. The drive there was through the Sacramento Mountains and was quite spectacular. Alamogordo has the New Mexico Museum of Space History and this museum is a must see when in the area. It is also very close to the White Sands National Monument. We were getting some unusual weather and storms blowing though which made for some very dramatic lighting at White Sands and we ended up running over there 3 times over a 2 day period just to get photographs. |

The motel we were staying at gave us plastic sleds to use to go sled riding on the sand dunes. I suppose if you have never done it in snow it would be better but you go slow. It is also hard to walk back up the sand dunes. But I just had to do it anyway. Oh, and I also went for a walk on the moon. AND when in Alamagordo the Green Chile Cheeseburgers at Rockin BZ Burgers and Blake's are pretty good. |
