The picture to the left is the Boulder Dam Hotel. The hotel was built to house dignitaries during the construction of the Boulder dam which was later named Hoover Dam. We just love this hotel and always get the King Suite rooms. The hotel also has the Hoover Dam Museum free for guests of the hotel. It really is a very nice museum. If you have not been to this city it is a nice place to base to explore things like the Hoover Dam, Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Southern Nevada Railway Museum and more.

They have a relatively new audio walking tour of the city that starts and ends at the hotel. You use your smart phone and just scan a bar code at each stop and it plays an audio file telling you where you are and what you are looking at. There is a lot of art work around the city that depicts scenes from when the dam was being built. The house shown below was built for one of the more important people behind the dam project. From Boulder City we also went over to Chloride AZ, one of our favorite living ghost towns.
