Calico Ghost town is a county park of a restored silver mining town. Every year they have a large Civil War reenactment. I went to it about 10 years ago while Karen was in Cleveland and enjoyed it so wanted Karen to see it. I find it amazing how many people are into this kind of thing and all across the US people do Civil War reenactments. The costumes they wear are very authentic down to the materials, buttons on the clothing etc. Every time they fire the guns they had to purchase the materials to make the fake bullets so they spend a fair amount of money on doing these things. |

Calico is a ghost town and former mining town in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Located in the Calico Mountains of the Mojave Desert region of Southern California, it was founded in 1881 as a silver mining town, and today has been converted into a county park named Calico Ghost Town. Walter Knott purchased Calico in the 1950s, architecturally restoring all but the five remaining original buildings to look as they did in the 1880s. It is a big tourist attraction for people traveling though the area. |
