When we went to Georgia to take lapidary classes we flew into Nashville and spent the night in Chattanooga. The next day we took their hop on hop off city tour. It started at what is now the Chattanooga Hotel and it was once the terminal station for the Southern Railway train. The building itself and the grounds are interesting and is listed on the register of historic places and the hotel is a member of the historic hotels of America. You can even get a room in one of the train cars. We were staying at a Marriott because I had enough points for a free room though.

We found the city interesting and got off at the International Towing and Recovery Museum. It seems Chattanooga is the birth place of the tow truck invented by Ernest Holmes. The picture below is worlds fastest wrecker clocked at 109.330 MPH at the Talladega Speedway. Chattanooga has a nice web site that lists a lot of things to do but we choose to see the city from the trolley and visit the museum. Next time I think we will take a jet boat trip on the river.
