I have known about this museum for a long time but it is only open Monday through Friday so I was never able to go. Now that I am retired I made it !! Dick Marconi made his fortune developing and manufacturing custom made vitamins, weight loss products and food supplements. He founded the Marconi Automotive Museum & Foundation for Kids in 1994. The Museum is used to raise a million dollars annually for various at risk children's charities. It is a collection of high performance street cars and race cars, among which are Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, American muscle cars, some of which are one of a kind. The open wheel car collection features cars driven by Marconi himself, his son John, and wife Bo. |

The picture of the open wheel car to the left shows the cockpit and if you saw highlights of the Indy 500 this year you saw a spectacular crash where the driver got out and walked away. We were at the manufacturer of the Indy cars this year and saw why. The new cockpits are very strong carbon fiber with foam that encapsulates and protects the driver. This picture to the left has no protection like that as it is a much older design. The museum for sure had a lot of Mustangs, Lamborghini's and Ferrari's. |
