click photo to enlarge		 We have been stopping at Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch every few years since we moved out here in 2001. Once he retired the number of bottle Trees really took off.  Back in 2001 there were not that many. If you look closely at the trees there are all kinds of things on top of them. From parking meters, to rifles to cooking utensils, to surf boards.... The list goes on and on.

click photo to enlarge		 Elmer actually purchases some of these items just to put on top of his trees and others he finds in the desert and still others people give him items to use. If you are ever on Route 66 in Oro Grande Elmer's place is a must see. He is famous all around the world in Route 66 guide books and he gets visitors from all over the world and he loves to talk to visitors. If you are lucky he will be there and you will get a chance to talk to one of the true characters of the road.
