When we first drove into Colorado the weather looked ominous and we got to see the Welcome to Colorful Colorado sign with these clouds in the background. Our first stop in Colorado was the Overland Trail Museum in Sterling. Again, the museum was very well done. After that we were off to Fort Morgan to check into our motel. The local newspaper talked about how bad the storm was that hit two days before. The TV had many commercials where car dealers were selling hail damaged cars at discounts. The entire time we were in Colorado there were tornados and or hail storms every day in the plains just east of where we were in Golden. The next morning we were off to Denver to have lunch with my last Kaiser boss, Brian and a colleague, Kirstine. It was a very nice meet-up, lunch and just fun chit chatting. After lunch we went over to the Westeraires to see their museum, but it was closed because they had a pipe burst. Westernaires is a mounted precision drill organization composed of Denver-area youngsters from 9 to 19 years of age. The gentlemen we talked to said they would be practicing the advanced kids on Saturday so we will go back for it.

While in Golden we had to go take the Coors brewery tour. The lines for this tour can easily be a couple hours long so we went first thing in the morning and it wasn't bad. Here Karen is drinking the breakfast of champions, beer. Golden was also having a Buffalo Bills day affair while we were in town so it was fun but very packed. We also went to visit Buffalo Bills grave. Leaving Golden, heading west, we went over the Loveland Pass and the continental divide. It was a very pretty drive and also cold out at 12,000 feet. Driving into Glenwood Canyon was really a beautiful drive and Glenwood is at about 5500 ft. elevation. The town is small but runs on tourism for the river and mountain biking in the summer. There are many other tourist activities in the area. We went to see the Doc Holiday museum then went to see his grave. Leaving Colorado we went though Grand Junction and stopped at a very good interactive mechanized dinosaur museum.
