Flickr is now limiting the number of photos I can have so these will age out in a year or so.

We went to visit a colleague from Kaiser and stay at their cabin in Graniteville. This cabin was built in 1865 during the Civil War. Wow... I have never stayed in a house that old. They had bear droppings out in the yard under the apple trees. Heat was by a wood stove in the front room. You use a lot of blankets at night to keep warm in bed.

It was a very relaxing enjoyable visit. It is very quiet at night and the sky is very dark. We went out for a walk to see the stars at night. Luckily we didn't see any bears. :-)   The town was first settled in 1850. Of course there was mining in the area for gold. The elevation is about 5,000 ft. Our friends were wonderful hosts and after a very nice breakfast we all went out hiking and checking the area out. It was very enjoyable sitting on the porch and just enjoying the silence of hearing the wind rustling the trees.
