. L’Anse-au-Clair has a population of 220, according to the 2016 census. The Visitor Center is in a turn of the century restored church, & they are opening the visitors’ center early for us. I went wandering around taking pictures of the houses and the bay. I was also joined by our coach mascot, AC Puffin. AC Puffin shows up in photos every now and then, photo bombing us. You will see him on the Flickr page. The town was so small and quaint just a little different from Los Angeles CA. Traffic? what is traffic? What a different world from my default world. |

Our next stop was at L’Anse-Amour historic site. L’Anse-Amour was originally called L’Anse-Amort (mort means death in French) because of the shipwrecks there, but the locals decided to change it to the more pleasant name of L’Anse-Amour. We also went to the Point Amour Lighthouse where they served us tea, and we could climb the lighthouse. On the ride to L’Anse-Amour we saw icebergs out in the Straight of Belle Isle. |
