This was our first time ever going to the Tucson Gem and mineral show. This thing is really huge with over 4,000 vendors and probably 2 dozen shows. We spent two days wandering around looking. Two days doesn't even begin to cover this. I didn't expect to buy much of anything and in fact about the only thing I bough was some saw blades. Karen bought a number of different kinds of cabochons. A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted and that is what you see in all of these pictures. |

They had it all from rough rocks, to slabs, to finished jewelry and it ran the gamut from crude to stunningly beautiful. We had all of our business license so we are able to buy wholesale and no taxes. The blue in the picture below is Australian Boulder opal and it was really pretty and expensive. Since Covid-19 has brought our jewelry sales to a screeching halt, we depend on tourist traffic on Route 66, I am not sure we will go back next year. We are just hoping things pick back up again. |
