In the Ghost Town of Goldfield Nevada is an Open Air Art Gallery called "The International Car Forest of the Last Church". It was created by Goldfield resident Mark Rippe. His goal was to set the Guinness Worlds Record for the Largest Car Forest. He and two other artists buried more then 40 cars to create the forest. It is in fact the largest in the country. |

Now what is with this crazy name... according to the Travel Nevada Web Site.... The International Car Forest of the Last Church, which has no artists statement or informational bulletin, is a combination of two ideas: a national forest that people could openly visit, and a nod to Rippie’s website called the Last Church—which details religious theories that want nothing to do with organized religion. |
