When we visited Cleveland in 2022 we also drove to visit a long time friend in Buffalo. While there he took us to visit Niagara Falls. The last time we were there was probably about 1993 or 4. Most Clevelanders visit the falls at some point in their lives because it is only 3 to 4 hours away. Karen was actually there in 1969 when the US Army Corp of Engineers stopped the flow of water on the American Falls. The engineers wanted to find a way to remove the unseemly boulders that had piled up at its base since 1931, cutting the height of the falls in half.

It is quite a spectacle to see any time during the day  but at night when it is all lit up it is stunning. I have also been there in the winter to see all the ice formed by the mist. There is a boat on the American side and also the Canadian side that takes people up close to the falls. The boat on the US side is battery powered.
