Morro Bay is located on California's central coast and the big rock is Morro Rock. Morro Rock is a 576 foot tall volcanic plug that was originally surrounded by water. The northern channel was filed in to create a harbor. We have been here a number of times usually on our way to go to see Hearst Castle or take visitors to see Hearst Castle. This time we taking our motor home there to go camping.

There were nice hiking trails nearby, a very good restaurant within walking distance and a nice museum on history of the area. We did not have any hook ups so it was really quick and easy to just drive into town to shop or go to eat or explore the area. Temperatures are moderated by the ocean and the average high in January is 65 and in August is 68.We may have to go back next winter.
