Leaving Carson City we got on Route 50, The Loneliest Road in
America, or is it? Our first stop would be the town of Dayton. We walked
around, had lunch, and then walked around some more taking pictures and
looking. Dayton is a very old historical town on route 50 and there is one
building that was used in the movie Misfits with Clark Gable and Marilyn
Monroe. On the edge of Dayton we stopped into another Nation, in fact a micro
nation named The Republic of Molossia. This is the second micro nation we have
been to this year alone. The first was the Republic of Slojamistan. The person
who runs it got it claimed to be another country. He has an entry station, a
bunch of small buildings and he has an international border line where you go
from the USA to the Republic of Molossia. |

After all our international travel we came back into the US
and drove onto the Big Dawg’s Auto Lot in Stagecoach Nevada. Our main reason
for stopping there was to see one of the few remaining Doggie Diner Heads.
Doggie Diner was a small fast food restaurant chain serving hot dogs and
hamburgers in San Francisco and Oakland, California from 1948 to 1986. I
mean where else are you going to find a Doggie Diner Head right? But Big
Dawg’s Auto Lot also had some really rare and unusual cars too like a slant
6, 3 on the tree, 63 Plymouth Valiant, a 1963 Mecury Monterrey with a roll
down rear window. The real find is a Studebaker Pickup truck; there just
aren’t many of those to be found anywhere. Then it was on to Fallon, a Naval
Air Station town. In Fact Fallon is where the Top Gun Pilots train after
they left Miramar in 1996. |
