The History of Humanity in Granite is a very interesting place. It is also the Official Center of the World according to Imperial County, CA and the country of France. It was dreamed up and the town created by Jacques-André Istel. Look him up on wikipedia, his life is a very interesting story as well. This is located in the town of Felicity California, population 2, named after his wife Felicia. |

The granite pillar upon which the History is engraved are built to last millennia. They are built on concrete pillars 4 feet into the ground. Jacques wants to be sure he leaves behind a legacy. In order to get it officially declared the Center of the World it needed to be written in a book. So, he wrote a children's book about Coe the friendly dragon from Felicity, the Center of the World. They also have a maze called Maze of Honor where you can buy your own plaque to remember anything you want. We chose to have a plaque memorializing our love for each other. It will be around an awful lot longer then us that's for sure. When ever we are in the area we have to stop and visit. |
