Asian Lantern Festivals date back in Chinese culture to the
ancient Eastern Han Dynasty (250-220), nearly 2,000 years ago. In Cleveland
they hold it at the Metroparks Zoo. We choose to drive it rather then walk it.
It was much bigger and larger then we anticipated and was really quite
enjoyable.

The festival’s origins can be traced to the historical
cultural exchanges between ancient Iranian religions and China. There seems
to be a couple different companies that produce these traveling Lantern
Festivals. We were at one a few years back in California at the Pomona
Fairgrounds. The one in Cleveland was much larger and more colorful.
