The park is named for its large deposits of petrified wood, which are found
in a variety of colors and sizes. The park also contains a variety of other
natural features, including badlands, mesas, and canyons. In addition to its
natural beauty, Petrified Forest National Park also has a rich history. The
park is home to a variety of archaeological sites, including Agate House, a
pueblo built by the Ancestral Puebloans around 1050 AD. Petrified Forest
National Park is a popular destination for visitors interested in geology,
