When we were there the Nevada Museum of Art was hosting the
traveling exhibit "Ghost Army: The Combat Con Artists of World War II." The
exhibit tells the story of the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, a unique
unit of the United States Army that used deception and illusion to deceive
the German army during World War II. The unit was made up of artists,
engineers, and professional soldiers, who created inflatable tanks and
vehicles, fake radio traffic, and sound effects to create the illusion of a
larger and more powerful American force. The Ghost Army played a key role in
several major Allied victories, including the Battle of the Bulge. The
exhibit features a variety of artifacts from the Ghost Army, including
inflatable tanks, fake uniforms, and sound effects equipment. Visitors can
also learn about the unit's history and operations through interactive
displays and videos. |
