The Micro Nation of Slowjamastan

 

 

click photo to enlarge		 Slowjamastan is a micro nation located in Imperial County, California. It was founded in 2021 by Randy Williams, a radio DJ from San Diego. The nation is located on an 11-acre plot of land along State Route 78. Slowjamastan is a self-proclaimed dictatorship ruled by a sultan. The sultan has big, vague plans for the new micro nation, including building a palace, a casino, and a theme park. He has also said that he wants to make Slowjamastan a tax haven and a destination for celebrities and other wealthy individuals.

click photo to enlarge		 As of yet, Slowjamastan has not been recognized by any other country. However, the sultan is undeterred and continues to promote his new nation. He has even sent postcards to nearby residents and businesses introducing himself and inviting them to visit Slowjamastan. When we visited we had a picnic lunch in this new nation even though we did not have permission to enter and did not have a visa.
